The Tall Blonde with the Hot Boiler Frank Swiver Stories Book 1 edition by Harley Mazuk Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

Private eye, pacifist, wino, Frank Swiver returns in this 1949 adventure in San Francisco. Karin Maldau, a beautiful blonde asks him to find her stolen car, and is willing to pay big money. But she won't report the hot car or "boiler" to the police, who would try to find it for free. When Frank finds the car, there's a package in the trunk that plunges them both into the dangerous world of marijuana trafficking. An old-style pulp tale, with a noir ending, in "The Tall Blonde with the Hot Boiler" is Frank Swiver at his most hard-boiled.
Harley Mazuk mines the atmospheric crime fiction vein discovered by Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, and James M. Cain.

The Tall Blonde with the Hot Boiler Frank Swiver Stories Book 1 edition by Harley Mazuk Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This story is in the style of Hammett and Parker who the author emulates. He's a new author. This is a very good beginning with undstandable rough spots. He's a smart writer -- his plots are tight, his characters real within the genre, and he will proove his variety. To get read is about the hardest thing for any writer to achieve. I've read one other piece by Harley Muzak. He's good and getting better. He may or may not stay in this genre. Either way, give his work a try.
This story (in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine in 2011) was my 1st meeting with an engaging series character, Frank Swiver. He's a private eye in 1940's San Francisco. And a pacifist! Intriguing combination. I've resided in San Francisco for more than 30 years and have gradually absorbed many details of its mid-20th-century history. The author's stories read as though he actually lived here during that time.
Fluid writing, a good story, and great characters. All in all, this is a good read by what appears to be a new author. I hope he comes out with another one soon.
A romp. For a good time, spend an hour with Frank Swiver and his hard-boiled cohorts. You won't regret it.
